Wheeler Gorge

Took another 1-night camping trip at the Wheeler Gorge campground near Ojai. We wanted to bring Georgie this time, and this was one of the only sites that allowed dogs that wasn't all booked up already. Georgie gets carsick, so we broke up the drive and stopped at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks to do some hiking on the way up to the campsite.

We hiked a short 2 mile round trip hike to Paradise Falls.

The falls were pretty cool. Not many waterfalls around socal so can't really expect much. There weren't too many vantage points to shoot from without getting wet/muddy so I snapped a few and we had breakfast.

We then made our way up to the campground. Georgie in the car:

The site was ok. Not too secluded, but lots of shade from the trees. Ended up just hanging around the site so didn't take many landscape pictures. Since we weren't on the go for lunch this time, we made hobo packs with sausage, potatoes, peppers, and mushrooms.

The JJ's had left over chili from Nixon's bday so we had chili burgers for dinner.

Few pics just hanging around the site from mine and J's camera.

I wasn't expecting to see many stars at night, but surprisingly there were quite a few. We were surrounded by other sites and trees tho so there weren't any good areas to shoot from so I didn't take any this time. Figure we will head back out to Anza Borrego again to try for a darker night.

Not sure if we will take any more camping trips this year. Definitely going to head up to the sierras for fall colors but it will be too cold to tent camp and we will probably stay at a condo in Mammoth.

Next big trip is back to the pacific northwest to Seattle and Olympic National park....cant wait!
