Palos Verdes Drive

Haven't been out shooting much so I wanted to find more places close to home so that I could go when the light is good. J went to SF to visit a friend so I took the opportunity to go down to San Pedro to check out the tide pools and rock formations at White Point - Royal Palms beach. The tide was a bit high, but there are still quite a few areas to shoot from. I'll be back during low tide when it looks like there is a promising sunset.

I took the windy Palos Verdes Drive back home, which has a nice overlook of PV, San Pedro, and the ocean. With no clouds for the night, I decided to come back here after sunset to get some light trail shots of cars going up and down PV drive. This is not a busy street so timing cars going both ways is a bit lucky.

I setup my camera on full manual, at f/8 and ISO-100 and took a few 300 second exposures as I was trying to get it all in 1 shot.

The car trails leading down Western in the background are blown, but that's to be expected with a 5 minute exposure. The light pollution on the left side is coming from San Pedro and the Port of LA. This is a cool place to shoot, I'll probably be back next time I'm in the area to shoot sunset.

Here's a random abstract sunset pic from the last camping trip.

I'll be back in Mammoth during the first weekend in October to chase the fall colors, then we are heading up to Montana De Oro for a Thanksgiving weekend camping trip.
